Clarification

Since its establishment in 1924, Leopold has pioneered and acquired a number of innovative clarification technologies. In the 1990s, Leopold introduced its Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system to the United States. DAF is a process whereby very fine microbubbles attach themselves to particles in the water and float them to the surface where they form a floating sludge blanket that is easily removed using either mechanical or hydraulic mean.  In the United States one of the largest DAF plant for portable water treatment, 75 MGD ( 285,000 m3/day) , is a Leopold clari-DAF system installed in Greenville, South Carolina. Leopold has tested numerous applications for optimization of DAF algae removal, test and odor removal, color reduction, backwash water treatment and lagoon treatment, to name a few. Recently Leopold introduces the Clari-DAF system that not only covers the uses listed above, but also dissolved air flotation for membrane pretreatment and high rate Clari-DAF treatment.
